One of the most enjoyable ways to volunteer for Lone Fir Cemetery is to research information about its residents. Oregon Historical Society provides Lone Fir volunteers access to its research room, where numerous photos, obituaries, articles, books and reports have been found that help bring stories to life.
This research is used to enhance existing Lone Fir tours and create new ones. Research is also instrumental to event planning, such as A Midsummer’s Night and Tour of Untimely Departures.
