Memorial Weekend
Friends of Lone Fir will be assisting METRO staff in the cemetery all three days over the Memorial Day weekend. We will be helping friends and family locate graves and also answering basic questions. An information table at the cemetery entrance will provide assistance and information about Lone Fir Cemetery and our programs. Our assisstance is requested from 10am to 3pm. Volunteers are needed.

Rose Festival Tour

For the Rose Festival Centennial celebration, a special tour of Lone Fir Cemetery will be advertised in the Rose Festival Program and is an alternative to the Grand Floral Parade. For those in the Rose Festival spirit who may not like the parade crowds, our general history tour will highlight Mayor Harry Lane, the Mayor for the first Rose Festival in 1907. Also featured will be the Pioneer Rose Garden while it is at the height of it's beauty. The rose garden at Lone Fir Cemetery will finally join Portland's better known rose gardens in celebrating our City of Roses.

Monument conservation and repair is very important in preserving the history portrayed at Lone Fir Cemetery, Portland's outdoor history museum. This year we hope to repair some of the larger stones as well as re-setting seriously damaged or broken stones that are in danger of disappearing altogether. Come learn a new skill as well as contribute some lasting community service work. Please bring gloves and knee pads. Put your education to use!

Midsummer Night's Tour

Friends of Lone Fir's Midsummer Night's Tour is an opportunity for people to see Portland's rich history come to life. Live music and characters in period custume enliven our stage presentation, highlighting some new charachters sharing their stories and telling of their contributions to our city's history. Now in our 6th year, we proudly share our achievements, activities and goals at our main fundraiser for the year. Bring a picnic lunch and a lawn chair. Sit back and relax under the trees, and enjoy a laid -back look at history-Portland style!
