Other volunteer opportunities
As interest in Lone Fir Cemetery grows, so does the need for more volunteers to help serve the community. Volunteering for Friends of Lone Fir is a rewarding way to learn about Portland’s history and share it with others. Volunteers can have meaningful experiences helping families find their ancestors and helping them repair and restore headstones, acting or playing music for events, and more!  Volunteer opportunities include:

• Historical and botanical research
• Assisting with or leading historical tours
• Headstone repair and cleaning
• Landscaping, tending to the rose garden, and debris clean up
• Event planning and participation
• Portraying a Lone Fir resident at an event
• Writing scripts for annual events and tours
• Community outreach
• Marketing and media relations
