Have you wandered through Lone Fir Cemetery and become intrigued by a particular headstone? Do you enjoy the hunt for information? Then join our community researchers and participate in our Adopt-a-Stone Project!<\/em><\/strong> Anyone can work on it \u2013 just make sure you follow these basic guidelines to keep things organized. The project consists of three easy steps:<\/p>\n

  1. \"img_1844\"REGISTER
    \n<\/strong>Select a headstone you find interesting (or a family of stones) and register your project with Friends of Lone Fir Cemetery so you can connect with others who might be working on similar projects and get access to material that\u2019s already available in our collection. If you\u2019d like help selecting a stone, let us know and we can help.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. RESEARCH
      \n<\/strong>Research the individual or family. Review our report guidelines listed below so you know what to collect as you move along in your project. Share your progress and challenges with us so we can offer support and cheer your progress.Friends has very limited funding to assist volunteers with the costs associated with their research. Requests for financial reimbursement must be submitted to our Board Chair in writing prior to the expenditure and be approved by the organization\u2019s Board. You will be notified of the Board\u2019s decision in writing. If the request is approved, detailed receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. REPORT
        \n<\/strong>Your report may consist of a summary document with bulleted points or a cover sheet and packet of documents. Your report must:<\/p>\n
          \n
        1. Be completely fact-based and include a source citation for each fact or document.\u00a0 Any citation style is acceptable so long as it\u2019s used consistently and provides enough information for a future researcher to locate the source.<\/li>\n
        2. Be submitted in electronic format.<\/li>\n
        3. Include the grave location (from the \u201cSearch Cemetery Records\u201d link at www.oregonmetro.gov<\/a>) and a description or photo of the stone.\u00a0 If it is upright\/multi-sided, include what is on each side (noting directions north, east, south, and west).<\/li>\n
        4. Include your name and contact information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
